Privacy Policy

Schmenk Golf ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We do not sell your personal data.

Information We Collect

Account info: email, name, username, and an optional avatar. Profile info: handicap, home course, and bio. Content you create: rounds, scorecards, shot data, tee times, photos, comments, and reactions. Location: only if you opt in (see below). Device info: push notification tokens and basic analytics (app opens, crashes).

How We Use Your Information

To run the app: show your profile and rounds to friends, calculate your USGA handicap, show live distances and weather while you play, send the push notifications you enable, and sync your rounds across devices. We never sell your data to third parties.

Location

Location is opt-in through your device settings. When enabled, we use it on the course to show GPS distance to the green, "plays like" yardage, the hole map, and local weather. We do not broadcast your location to other users. You can revoke access at any time in your device settings or Settings → Privacy.

Third-Party Services

We use Supabase (database and auth), Expo (app delivery and push), Google (course search, elevation, and maps), OpenWeatherMap (weather), Sentry (crash reporting), and PostHog (product analytics and session replay). Each provider has its own privacy policy.

Session Replay

We use PostHog session replay to record interactions inside the app (taps, scrolls, and screen transitions) so we can diagnose bugs and improve the product. Text inputs (profile editor, search fields, notes) and images (avatars and round photos) are automatically masked, so recordings never include what you type or the photos you upload. Replays are tied to your user ID, retained for 30 days, and used only by us. You can opt out in Settings → Privacy or by emailing support@linkupgolf.org.

Data Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Privacy → Delete my account), we permanently remove your profile, rounds, scorecards, tee times, comments, and any content reports you filed. Backups are purged within 30 days.

Your Rights

You can view, edit, or export your data at any time. You can block other users, report content, and delete your account directly in the app. If you're in the EU or California, you also have rights under GDPR/CCPA. Email support@linkupgolf.org to exercise them.

Children

Schmenk Golf is for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use row-level security on all data, TLS for all connections, and scope auth tokens to authenticated users. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures and disclose breaches promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update the date at the top when we change this policy. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
